Professional statement

Dr. Yan Carvalho brings nearly 10 years of diverse medical experience to his practice as a General Practitioner. He began his Australian medical journey in 2014, when he moved to Australia on a merit-based scholarship from the Brazilian government to attend the University of Sydney.

In 2021, Dr.Carvalho further advanced his expertise by obtaining a Master’s degree in Medicine from the University of Lisbon. His career has taken him across continents and various specialties, including working in Intensive Care Units (ICU), Coronary Care Units (CCU), and general practice in Brazil. Upon returning to Australia in 2022, he worked for a year and a half in Emergency Medicine (ED) followed by almost two years in General Surgery. He now focuses on providing comprehensive care as a full-time General Practitioner.

Dr.Carvalho is licensed to practice medicine in Australia, Brazil, and Portugal, which reflects his broad international experience. His approach to patient care emphasizes compassion, approachability, and a commitment to problem-solving. He strives to build strong relationships with his patients and is dedicated to providing personalized, tailored healthcare.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Carvalho enjoys spending quality time with his wife and baby daughter. He is a practising Catholic, and in his free time, he is an avid surfer and fisherman. Fluent in Portuguese and Italian, he also loves connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.
