What happens during a health assessment?

Most health assessments start with our practice nurse, who will ask about your medical history, lifestyle, medications and family history, and take measurements such as blood pressure, weight, waist circumference and, where needed, blood sugar or vision and hearing checks. You then see your GP, who reviews the results with you, discusses any risks and agrees on a plan. You will receive a written summary and, if needed, referrals or tests.

How to prepare

  • Allow 45 to 60 minutes for your appointment
  • Bring your Medicare card, a list of your medications and any recent test results
  • Bring your glasses or hearing aids if you use them
  • Tell our reception team you are booking a health assessment so we can book the right amount of time with the nurse and doctor
